Barack Obama Barack Obama told supporters that "change has come to America" as he claimed victory in a historic presidential election.

He has become the first African-American to win the White House.

"To those Americans whose support I have yet to earn -- I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your president too," he said.

Teddy Afro awaits verdict expected on the 2nd of November

 A verdict in Teddy Afro’s case will be delivered on November 2, the court deciding whether the popular singer will walk away as free man or spend ten to fifteen years in prison. The trial at the federal high court eight criminal benches today has been adjourned since November 2, 2008 when the three-judge panel retired to consider its verdict.

Yohannes GebregeorgisAt age 19, Yohannes Gebregeorgis borrowed a soft-cover romance novel entitled "Love Kitten" that changed his life forever.

 Born in rural Ethiopia to an illiterate cattle merchant who insisted upon his son's education, Gebregeorgis had seen a few books in school. But it was the experience of having a book of his own that sparked a lifelong commitment.

Today, at 56, Gebregeorgis is establishing libraries and literacy programs to connect Ethiopian children with books.
